The Brisbane Winter Carnival moves to Ipswich for their Cup day and we take a look through the best races of the day.

Race 3: Ray White Ipswich Dash Class 6 Plate (1100m)
1st: No 6. Cape Kidnappers
2nd: No 3. State Of Wealth
3rd: No 11. Nuptse
4th: No 12. Alcancia

Best Bet Of The Day

Plan is to get away early with a good bet and the Best Bet Of The Day jumps away in the third where No 6. Cape Kidnappers should be good goods also. As an injury plagued galloper to have done what he has to date – four wins and a third from five starts, highlights just how good he is. He won his first two starts be a combined margin of over 13 lengths! One to watch and the best bet of the day! Fixed odds of $2.50 with look great – check it out!

Race 6: Listed Sky Racing World Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m)
1st: No 7. City Of Song
2nd: No 3. Classics
3rd: No 11. Peron
4th: No 12. Ametsis

Overdue For A Win

The winner of two of her five starts this campaign; No 7. City Song has produced two very good efforts of late, finishing fourth at both of her starts for her new trainer and connections since being sold. Beaten three-quarters-of-a-length at Scone in the Listed Dark Jewel Classic behind Arctic Flight, the mare was then beaten just under a length by Detours at Eagle Farm at Listed level again. Stepping back up in trip here to the 1350m, she should prove hard to beat and give her owners some joy after they purchased her recently for a significant sum of money.

Race 7: Listed Channel 7 Ipswich Cup
1st: No 14. Planetarium
2nd: No 1. Voila Ichi
3rd: No 4. Rialya
4th: No 8. Muirfield

Back to Back – Can He Do It?

With only four wins from 32 career starts, five-year-old gelding No 14 Planetarium looks in the right form to produce back to back wins, registering his first stakes victory in the Listed Ipswich Cup. Winning last time out over the 1818m at Eagle Farm, the Gerald Ryan-trained runner should be able to get a good run from the inside drawn and be produced at the right time.

Race 8: Listed City of Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes (1350m)
1st: No 1. Conservatorium
2nd: No 2. Phelan Ready
3rd: No 4. Mahisara
4th: No 15. Dance On Stars

Best Bet Quinella

Second at Group One level two starts back and then nailed right on the line last time out at Group Two level, the consistent No 1. Conservatorium only needs to reproduce that form to be winning the Eye Liner on Saturday. Many thought he was a good chance in the Group One Stradbroke, but failed to get a run after being put as an emergency. Although does have top weight of 59 kg here, he does drop significantly in grade. I would not let G1 Golden Slipper winner No 2. Phelan Ready slip under your guard either and he rates as a very good chance here for the one-two finish.
