WHAT is it about the multi that attracts so much interest?
Is it the juicy odds?
Is it the ability to follow different games and different sports, all on the one betting ticket?
Is it the feeling of glory when it all comes together on one perfect weekend?
Or, is it the ability to turn something as simple as $10 into a boat-load of cash?
Of course, it’s all of the above.
While our form on picking multis has been mixed in 2014, the AustralianGambling team has had some incredible wins so far in 2014.
The AG team is planning on another magical weekend right here.
We have an Aussie-heavy card coming to you this weekend, starting with two Friday night events in the AFL and NRL – followed by another AFL tip and one last effort at picking a winner in the final EPL round of the season.
As always, even though this is a multi that you would have to put on with one online bookmaker, AustralianGambling still has gone out to find the best odds for each individual leg, just in case you want to bet on them individually. Opening multiple online accounts costs nothing, so make sure you’re always taking home the biggest profits!
AFL Friday – Sydney vs. Hawthorn
Tip: Sydney to beat Hawthorn at $2.75 with Sportsbet.com.au (better than $2.70 with Centrebet and Sportingbet).
The form guide tells us not to go near the Swans tonight, but an upset is brewing up north. The Hawks are coming off an 145-point mauling of St Kilda, but they did lose key players Brian Lake and Sam Mitchell – both absolutely crucial to their backline and midfield setups. Add to this the Lance Franklin factor, a big Sydney home crowd and a slowly-improving Sydney midfield and what we have is some serious value on the Swans at $2.75.
NRL Friday – North Queensland vs. Brisbane
The Cowboys have been waiting to hit top form and they did so in their last game. They face a Broncos team that has overachieved this season, but we’re tipping the Broncos will struggle against the top teams sooner rather than later. The Cowboys will be ready to fire again as Origin season is right around the corner and the world’s best player in Jonathan Thurston will lead them to victory once again.
AFL Sunday – West Coast vs. Greater Western Sydney
The Giants’ average losing margin this season is just under six goals, and their two wins have been by a combined total of 39 points. They are the sixth highest scoring team in the comp behind only Hawthorn, Port, Geelong, Gold Coast and Collingwood. So while the trip to Perth is one of the hardest treks in footy, don’t expect the coming-of-age Giants to be blown away. In their last two games at Patersons, the Eagles have been shut out by the Dockers and Power, managing only seven goals on both those occasions. Against the Saints earlier on, they were held to 12. I’ve taken a high line of +66.5 just to be safe, because at $1.50 to bump up your multi, that is fantastic value.
English Premier League, Sunday midnight
Tip: Southampton to defeat Manchester United, paying $2.62 at Sportsbet (better than $2.50 at Centrebet).
The final matchday of the 2013-14 EPL season sees Southampton host Manchester United at St Mary’s, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men looking to put the finishing touches on what has been a very solid campaign. The Red Devils, meanwhile, are sore, sorry and hoping to forget this season ever happened. Get on the Saints to compound the Mancunians’ misery with a comfy win on their own patch.
– Sydney to beat Hawthorn, paying $2.75
– Cowboys to beat the Broncos, paying $1.85
– Sportsbet’s Pick Your Own Line: GWS (+66.5), paying $1.50
– Southampton to defeat Manchester United, paying $2.62
Approximate combined multi total: $20 at www.sportsbet.com.au
