The UEFA Champions League continues on Wednesday and Thursday morning (AEST) with fixtures from matchday two.
Lyon versus Shakhtar Donetsk
Wednesday, 3 October 2018 at 5am at Parc Olympique Lyonnais
Lyon started their Champions League campaign with a stunning 2-1 win against competition favourites Manchester City in Manchester.
They look to back up that result when they host Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday morning (AEST).
Lyon is priced at $1.83 to win the match, with the visitors priced at $4.33. The draw is paying $3.75.
This fixture will be played behind closed doors after crowd disorder and racism during the Europa League last year.
The win in Manchester put the French side in a strong position in group F, which looked well balanced outside of City.
Domestic form has been mixed for Lyon, with three wins and two draws this season. They have lost two of their eight Ligue 1 games this season.
Shakhtar are enjoying strong league form with nine wins from 10 starts. Their only loss this season was to Dynamo Kiev on the road.
They drew at home 2-2 with Hoffenheim in a disappointing result for the Ukrainians, who trailed two before equalising on both occasions.
Lyon has kept a clean sheet only once in six games, with Shakhtar scoring in eight straight games.
The over 2.5 goals market at $2.22 is worth a play, with the lack of home crowd advantage also making the draw an enticing proposition.
Best bet- Lyon and Shakhtar Donestk to draw at $3.75
Manchester United versus Valencia
Wednesday, 3 October 2018 at 5am at Old Trafford
Not much has gone right for Manchester United this season but they enjoyed a last start Champions League win against Young Boys on the road by a 3-0 scoreline.
They start this match as $1.67 favourites at home, with their Spanish visitors priced at $5. The draw is paying $3.75.
Valencia’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in their opening game puts them in a vulnerable position in the group, as they can’t afford another defeat.
They earned their first win of the La Liga season on Saturday and will be hoping to cause an upset on Wednesday morning.
Marcus Rojo remains out injured for the Red Devils, with Chilean Alexis Sanchez seemingly out of favour at United after not even making the matchday squad against West Ham on Saturday.
Valencia will set up to counter attack, with the speed of Rodrigo Moreno likely to be extremely effective against Manchester United.
Neither side will want to lose this game for different reasons, but it is hard to turn down such a huge price on Valencia.
United are not worthy of such short favouritism against a more than capable opponent.
We are taking Valencia in the draw no bet market at a huge price of $3.75.
Best bet- Valencia Draw No Bet at $3.75
Tottenham versus Barcelona
Thursday, 4 October at 5am at Wembley Stadium
Tottenham hosts the headline fixture of matchday two when Barcelona visit Wembley Stadium on Thursday morning.
Barcelona easily dispatched of PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in their first match in Europe this season, with Lionel Messi scoring a hat trick.
They are $2 to defeat Tottenham, with the Spurs $3.40 home underdogs. The draw is paying $3.75.
Tottenham relinquished a 1-0 lead late against Inter Milan, with two goals in the final five minutes of the match meaning they took nothing away from their trip to the San Siro.
Barcelona has not enjoyed good form since its Champions League win, picking up just two points from three matches in La Liga.
They drew at home to Girona and Athletic Bilbao and suffered a surprise loss to Leganes by a 2-1 score.
Barcelona are badly out of form ahead of this match, with European failure not an option for the Catalan club.
They have topped their group in each of the last 11 Champions Leagues and it would be a brave punter to back against them doing the same this season.
Tottenham have the players to produce a surprise upset, with Harry Kane in fine goal scoring form. Their ability to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world remains their biggest question mark, and they are yet to prove that in Europe.
Barcelona should be able to get their reason back on track and will be too much for the Spurs defence to handle.
Best bet- Barcelona to win at $2
