With just three matches remaining in the group stage of the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League every win is crucial and we preview three of the most exciting fixtures of the week.
Inter Milan versus Barcelona
Wednesday, 7 November 2018 at 7am at San Siro, Milan
The two heavy favourites to progress from group B meeting on Wednesday morning when Barcelona travels to northern Italy to face Inter Milan.
It was Barcelona that prevailed when the two sides met a fortnight ago and they are $2 favourites to make it four wins from four games in the Champions League this season.
Inter is priced at $3.60 to win and sit in second spot in the group, five points ahead of Tottenham.
A result for Inter on Wednesday would guarantee them progression to the knockout rounds.
Lionel Messi is in the 22-man travelling squad to Italy for the match despite not being medically learned from his broken arm.
The teams have met seven times in UEFA competition, with Barcelona winning four from seven.
Their only loss against I Naerazzuri was in the 2010 semi finals when the Italian side prevailed 3-1 on aggregate.
Inter are in strong league form, bouncing back from their Barcelona defeat with a 3-0 away win at Lazio. They are second in the Serie A standings with 22 points from 10 matches.
Barcelona demolished rivals Real Madrid 5-1 in El Clasico nine days ago and are atop the La Liga standings.
This should be a much closer match then when the two sides met in Spain a fortnight ago.
Inter has won its only home game in the Champions League this season and can defend their way to a draw.
Best bet- Inter Milan and Barcelona to draw at $3.60
Napoli versus PSG
Wednesday, 7 November 2018 at 7am at Stadio San Paolo, Naples
Napoli and PSG meet in one of the most hotly contested Champions League groups this season.
Group C features Liverpool, Napoli and PSG fighting it out for two spots in the knockout round.
As it stands, Liverpool tops the standings with six points from three games. Napoli is a point behind in second, with PSG a point further behind on four points.
The French champions enter this match as $2.30 favourites, with Napoli priced as $2.88 underdogs. The draw is paying $3.75.
The two sides played out a 2-2 draw in Paris a fortnight ago.
Napoli would feel hard done by with that result after leading for much of the game and conceding a 93rd minute goal to Angel di Maria.
The Italian side is yet to beat PSG in three European meetings, with two of those matches ending in a draw.
Napoli is currently third in the Serie A standings and had a 5-1 win at home against Empoli at the weekend.
PSG continues to conquer the French league, beating Lille 2-1 at home on Saturday.
There is great value in backing the home side in this one, as they showed plenty against PSG in Paris.
Napoli has beaten Liverpool at home this season and their raucous home crowd will be sure to give them a lift throughout this one.
There is more at stake for PSG in this match as if they lose, they will find it tough to bounce back and progress.
Best bet- Napoli to win at $2.88
Lyon versus Hoffenheim
Thursday, 8 November 2018 at 7am at Groupama Stadium, Lyon
Lyon and Hoffenheim feature in group F of this year’s Champions League competition with the French side surprising many pundits with their great play this season.
They are $1.91 favourites to beat German club Hoffenheim on Thursday morning. The visitors are paying $3.60 to win, with the draw priced at $3.75.
When the clubs met on matchday three a total of six goals were scored, as Lyon failed to convert an early lead into three points.
A stoppage time goal to Joelinton snatched a point for Hoffenheim, but they remain three points in arrears of second placed Lyon.
The French club produced one of the shocks of the group stage in defeating Manchester City 2-1 on matchday one.
Since then they have drawn against Shakhtar and Hoffenheim, but know that a win on Thursday puts them in a strong position to progress to the last 16.
Hoffenheim is seventh in the Bundesliga and are coming off a 4-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.
Lyon sits in fourth spot in Ligue 1 after its 1-1 draw with Bordeaux.
The home side look a nice price at $1.91 to get all three points on Thursday as their attacking weapons coupled with home ground advantage should ensure they register their first home Champions League win this season.
Best bet- Lyon to win at $1.91.
