The Champions League has reached the business end of the competition with only eight sides still in contention to lift the famous trophy. Spanish sides dominate once again as they look to win the competition for their nation for a fifth consecutive season.
Juventus v Real Madrid, Wednesday 4th April 2018, 4.45am
In a rematch of last season’s Final, Real Madrid will be aiming to put their domestic worries away and continue their charge in the Champions League. Despite struggling in La Liga, Real have been in fine form in Europe disposing PSG comfortably in the last Round. They are slight favourites to win the first leg at $2.60.
Juventus were humbled in the Final last season losing 4-1 and will be out to salvage some pride and maybe a little revenge. They left it late in the last Round to squeeze past Tottenham Hotspur but have the quality to be a threat to Real at $2.80. If they can get a positive result in the 1st leg at home, then they will set themselves in good stead to progress.
Bet of the Match – Real Madrid to Win 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 at $6.50
Sevilla v Bayern Munich, Wednesday 4th April 2018, 4.45am
Bayern Munich are in cruise control in the Bundesliga, highlighted by their destruction of Borussia Dortmund recently, but the Champions League is their main target for the season. A trophy that they last lifted in 2013 with victory over Dortmund. They are clear favourites over Sevilla priced at $1.67.
An impressive record in this season’s Champions League has seen Sevilla surprisingly reach the quarter finals. They comfortably dispatched Manchester United in the last Round over two legs and will look to produce the same tactics against Bayern. Sevilla’s defence especially at home has frustrated many teams and they will be aiming for draw to take to Munich. They are priced at $5 to win.
Bet of the Match -Draw 1-1 at $8
Liverpool v Man City, Thursday 5th April 2018, 4.45am
This all English clash is arguably the most intriguing tie of the Round. City have dominated recent matches against Liverpool in the EPL, but it is Liverpool who have the European pedigree as a club. The Champions League is the missing piece of the puzzle of City’s wealthy investors and is exactly why they brought in manager Pep Guardiola. They stand at $2.30.
At $2.88, Liverpool are certainly not being written off in this clash, although they will have to improve vastly on their last performance against Crystal Palace. They have been weak in defence at times this season, but their attacking threat will pose a serious challenge for City to deal with over the two legs.
Bet of the Match – Draw at $3.40
Barcelona v Roma, Thursday 5th April 2018, 4.45am
Sitting atop La Liga, Barcelona can turn their attentions to the Champions League with confidence. An injury worry for Lionel Messi continues to plague their preparations though, despite him coming off the bench to salvage a draw against Sevilla. If he is fit to play against Roma then Barcelona look strong at $1.20.
Not many are giving Roma any hope at the Nou Camp this week as they stand at $13. Their best hope would be to come away from the 1st leg with a draw or at the least an away goal to give them a chance at home.
