The Europa League continues on Friday morning (AEST) with plenty of matches showcasing some of the best teams from across Europe.
FK Karabakh versus Arsenal
Friday, 5 October 2018 at 2:55am at Olympic Stadium, Baku
Arsenal travels to Azerbaijan for its second Europa League match this season when it takes on Karabakh at the Olympic Stadium in Baku.
The Gunners are priced as $1.40 favourites to win the match, with the hosts $7.50 outsiders. The draw is paying $4.33.
Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not travel to Azerbaijan due to safety fears, with fringe players such as Mohamed Elneny, Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi expected to get extensive game time for Arsenal.
The defensive quartet of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Carl Jenkinson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Lauren Koscielny are all out for Arsenal.
Goal keeper Petr Cech suffered a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Watford at the weekend, with Bernd Leno replacing him in goal.
Arsenal has won its past seven matches in all competitions and are enjoying a fine patch of form.
They won their opening Europa League match at home by a 4-2 scoreline against Ukraine’s Vorskla Poltava.
The Gunners led 4-0 before conceding two late goals.
It was a disappointing start to European competition for Karabakh this season, losing 2-0 at Sporting Lisbon.
They have been regulars in European competition in the past decade and featured in last season’s Champions League.
Their most recent matches against English opposition were against Chelsea where they lost 4-0 and 6-0.
Arsenal should have no trouble sweeping aside this level of opposition and will win comfortably.
Best bet- Arsenal -1 at $2.20 in handicap betting
Eintracht Frankfurt versus Lazio
Friday, 5 October 2018 at 5am at Waldstadion, Frankfurt
The two undefeated teams in group H meet in Germany, with a win to either club putting them in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages.
The German hosts are $2.40 favourites to win the match, with Lazio priced at $2.88. A draw is paying $3.30.
Eintracht Frankfurt left it late against Marseille to claim all three points, with an 89th minute goal sealing a come-from-behind 2-1 win.
Lazio dispatched of Cypriot side Apollon Limassol in its first match of the Europa League.
The Italians are coming off a 3-1 loss in their local derby game against Roma at the weekend and are 7th in Serie A.
Eintracht put together their most impressive league performance at the weekend beating Hannover 4-1 and are 11th in the Bundesliga.
Both of these teams have been prolific goal scorers in Europa League competition.
Eintracht have scored at least two goals in 11 of their past 12 Europa League matches, while Lazio have scored over 2.5 goals in five of their past six games.
The German’s are undefeated in 13 of their last 14 Europa League matches, but this is one of their more challenging opponents.
The statistics point towards goals and plenty of them. The over/under 2.5 goals is paying $1.83 each way. Frankfurt should prevail in a close match.
Best bet- Eintracht Frankfurt and Lazio over 2.5 goals at $1.83
FK Krasnodar versus Sevilla
Friday, 5 October 2018 at 5am at Krasnodar Stadium
Another meeting of two undefeated teams but this time in group J when three-time Europa League winners Sevilla visit Krasnodar.
The Russians are $3.10 outsiders to win the match, with Sevilla priced at $2.30. The draw is paying $3.30.
Both teams earned first up wins a fortnight ago, with Sevilla crushing Belgian side Standard Liege 5-1 at home.
It was much closer in Turkey where Krasnodar’s experience was too much for the inexperienced Akhisarspor.
Andre Silva has been a standout for Sevilla this season but will miss the team’s trip to Russia. He has been rested ahead of their La Liga match against Celta Viga this weekend.
Sevilla are in solid league form and sit third in La Liga. They had a 3-1 win at Eibar last weekend and shocked Real Madrid 3-0 to cap off a memorable week for the side.
Krasnodar is second in the Russian Premier League and defeated Dynamo Moscow 3-0 on the weekend.
Sevilla has an imposing record in this competition, winning its past nine matches. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 11 of their last 13 games. They have led at half-time and full time in six of their last seven Europa League matches.
All signs point to a Spanish victory and at odds of $2.30, they look well priced.
