After their visit to Perth, the UFC heads back to Las Vegas for the next Pay-Per-View (PPV) event of the promotion, which will take place on Saturday night (Sunday Australian time).
The initial headline bout for the event was a UFC featherweight title contest between champion Max Holloway and challenger Frankie Edgar. This was scrapped early last month when Holloway announced that he was unable to compete due to a leg injury.
The new main event will also be a UFC featherweight title bout and this time will be led by the women with superstar champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino set to defend her title against challenger Yana Kunitskaya over five rounds.
Edgar will remain on the card and feature in the co-main event. The former UFC lightweight champion will do battle with Brian Ortega in a featherweight bout.
Cyborg is proving to be an active champion, completing her first defence of the title just over two months ago. She defeated Holly Holm via unanimous decision in the year-ending PPV for the organisation on December 30 meaning the bout with Kunitskaya will come less than nine weeks from her previous title defence, which is incredible to see particularly given her previous bout went the full 25-minute-long five-round championship fight distance.
Kunitskaya enters this weekend’s contest as a debutant in the UFC coming from the all-female fighting promotion, Invicta FC.
Cyborg enters the main event a near unbackable $1.05 favourite head-to-head with Kunitskaya available at $10.50.
Edgar will enter his bout a $1.61 favourite with Ortega a $2.33 chance.
The main card will feature the following five bouts in the PPV televised portion of the event in the following order.
Women’s Bantamweight: Cat Zingano ($2.31) v Ketlen Vieira ($1.61)
Heavyweight: Stefan Struve ($1.54) v Andrei Arlovski ($2.49)
Bantamweight: Sean O’Malley ($2.11) v Andre Soukhamthath ($1.73)
Featherweight: Frankie Edgar ($1.61) v Brian Ortega ($2.33)
Women’s Featherweight: Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino ($1.05) v Yana Kunitskaya ($10.50)
With a 12 fight long card, multi bets and the UFC can go hand in hand and the following multi is well worth a look:
Andre Soukhamthath (match) – $1.73
Points (Edgar v Ortega) (how fight will end) – $1.50
Cris Justino to Win in Round 2 (round betting – 5 rounds) – $4.50
Three-leg multi @ $11.68
