Brisbane Roar will get the chance to close the gap on ladder leaders Sydney FC to four points when they get the most spread out round of the season underway on Friday night.
Roar host the Wanderers in the only game of the round taking place before Christmas and can jump above the Victory into second place on the ladder if avoiding defeat at home.
Melbourne City and Perth Glory meet in the game of the round on Tuesday evening with both looking to bounce back from defeats last weekend.
Speaking of the Victory, they close out the round with a home fixture against the Mariners on Wednesday, who lost to Brisbane at home last Sunday. The hosts are the shortest price favourite of the round at $1.25 with Central Coast at the huge odds of $11.

Here’s the best three bets for twelfth round of the A-League season:
Brisbane Roar v Western Sydney Wanderers, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Friday December 23. 7:50pm AEDT
The round gets underway with a replay of the 2014 Grand Final in Brisbane. The Roar extended their unbeaten run to nine on Sunday after beating the Mariners 2-1 in Gosford. The Wanderers currently sit in seventh place on the ladder, struggling to find form.
Socceroo Jamie Maclaren slotted home his sixth goal of the campaign in the 76th minute last week and with it gave the Roar their fifth win of the campaign. Their good form has seen them rise to third on the ladder, splitting the Melbourne clubs.
For the visitors, they can thank super-sub Brendon Santalab for giving their stuttering season some respectability. He’s scored six goals for the campaign but needs some help from the likes of Japanese star, Jumpei, who signed during the off-season but hasn’t delivered so far.
History was made off the pitch this week when Vedran Janjetovic signed with the Wanderers on an 18-month contract. The 29-year-old becoming the first in history to make the switch from one Sydney club to another.
The Roar look solid in defence and should have too many tricks at home.
Suggested Bet: Brisbane Roar: $1.95
Adelaide United v Sydney FC, Coopers Stadium, Adelaide, Monday December 26. 7:50pm AEDT
It’s top versus bottom in the City of Churches on Boxing Day when the league leaders face last season’s Champions. Sydney continued their terrific goal scoring run last weekend with a 4-1 away win in Perth while United sunk to their seventh loss of the campaign with a 2-1 loss in Newcastle.
Sydney have only won four of their thirteen meetings at this venue but this is a different outfit than the previous years. They are seven points clear at the top of the table.
The club is so happy with how they are travelling that coach Graham Arnold penned a two-year extension this week.
Having led the Mariners to their first title win in 2013, Arnold is desperate to end Sydney’s seven-year title drought and become the first coach to win the A-League Championship at two different clubs.
This one is pretty open and shut for me, Sydney have won eight of their eleven games while Adelaide have managed only a single victory.
Suggested Bet: Sydney FC to win: $1.95
Melbourne City v Perth Glory, AAMI Park, Melbourne, Tuesday December 27. 7:50pm AEDT
By the time this game kicks off, Melbourne City would have had 10 days to think about their 2-1 derby loss to Victory. They’ll meet a Glory team who’ve only won one of their past seven games.
Tim Cahill, who scored the opener in the derby loss on Saturday says that his focus is on his club’s title push, not the Socceroos World Cup Qualifying campaign that hangs in the balance.
Perth have denied a report that Socceroo signing Rhys Williams is set to leave the club just 11 games into his A-League tenure.
City will be too strong at home for a Perth outfit that hasn’t won in over a month.
Suggested Bet: Melbourne City to win: $1.55
