The team here is excited about the upcoming Football action and will be providing weekly tips and best bets for the A-league as well as the English Premier League in 2010/2011.
I don’t like to make too many predictions in the first few rounds of the season due to the unpredictable nature of the matches. As the first few rounds come and go, you’ll notice a more in depth analysis each week and we begin to find the best bets and tips for the round.
There aren’t any surprises in the premiership betting market before the action kicks off later tonight. here are the current odds at Sportingbet Australia:
Melbourne Victory: $4.50
Melbourne Heart: $7.00
Gold Coast: $8.00
Central Coast: $17.00
North Queensland: $51.00
My initial reactions to these odds is that Sydney FC are too short considering the quality of players they let go in the off season. Players like Colosimo and Aloisi can’t be underestimated in their value at the club, even though Aloisi didn’t find form until late in the season.
If I was going to have a punt before round 1 I’d have to go with the Melbourne Heat of Gold Coast United. Even though both teams are new to the competition, I think on paper they have the best sides. I’m especially excited to see how the Melbourne Heart perform in their first season. Gold Coast have one season under their belt, and will be looking to stake their claim for the title this season.
The result that I’m predicting is in bold.
No doubt there will be some upsets this week as there always are in the early rounds.
My best bet for the pre-season is to get on the wooden spoon. North Queenslands are almost certainties to get smacked with it. It’s currently paying $2.60 on Sportingbet.
