EPL Betting – Mid Week Games, April 14-15 2010

Mon, Apr 12, 6:27pm by Kevin Pitstock

We are now down to the serious end of the 2010 English Premier League season. Manchester United crumbled under the pressure last night and remain one point behind Chelsea, who have a game in hand.

There are plenty of mid-week games coming up so we are going to be providing tips the odds of the remaining EPL games of the 2010 season. The odds come courtesy of Sportsbet.

Chelsea vs Bolton: Wednesday morning (AEST) is a pretty straight forward game. Chelsea is taking in the struggling Bolton team. The Blues are at home and should wrap this one up easily. Bolton won’t cause much trouble, but are also quite compact. Look for a score like 2-0 in this game.

Sportsbet have Chelsea paying a tight $1.14, which hardly makes it worth it. The draw is at $7.50, with a Bolton win coming in at $17.00. I cannot see any chance of a close contest in this one.

Wigan vs Portsmouth: Portsmouth had a big win over Tottenham last night in the semi-final of the FA Cup. That saw a bit of light at the end of their disastrous season.

Wigan haven’t been in great form either, but not as bad as Portsmouth. I don’t think Portsmouth can back up after such a big game and Wigan will be too strong at home. Sportsbet have Wigan at $1.57, the draw at $3.75 and a Portsmouth win at $6.00.

Aston Villa vs Everton: This is a game that could go either way. Aston Villa have been in terrible form of late, but to keep their slim chances of a top four finish alive, they will need to win this game. Everton have recovered from their terrible start to the season and have been knocking off teams one week at a time. They have stumbled a little bit in recent times, so it makes this game harder to pick. Villla lost to Chelsea again on the weekend, and have not been playing anywhere near their best. I predict this to be an entertaining draw. Look for a scoreline of 2-2.

Sportsbet Australia have Aston Villa paying $2.20, the draw at $3.30, with an Everton win at the same price. The odds imply that it is a tough game to pick as well. This game could go either way.

Tottenham vs Arsenal – Tottenham had a devastating, extra-time loss to Portsmouth last night in the FA Cup semi-final and will be looking to recover in the best possible fashion. They are sitting in 5th place, and can close the gap on Manchester City to just one point if they win. That being said, their form hasn’t been their best and they look below par. This is the time of the season they should be peaking, but they are not.

Arsenal can move up into second place with a win in this game . Man Utd faltered against Blackburn, and Arsenal can capitalise by winning and leap frogging them. A win here will also put them level with Chelsea, and keep them in the hunt for the title. Arsenal are in better form at the moment, so I expect them to win in a close one.

Sportsbet have Tottenham at $3.20, the draw at $3.25 and an Arsenal win at $2.25.

This weekends tips and odds for the EPL 2010 season will be posted this coming Friday.
