Top plays bottom with Reds given little hope against Sky Blues

Fri, Nov 25, 12:21pm by Head Editor

Preview: A-League Round Eight: Sydney FC v Adelaide United

Date and Time: Saturday, November 26, 7:50pm

Venue: Allianz Stadium, Sydney

TV: Live on Fox Sports

It’s top versus bottom in the Harbour City on Saturday night when the Sky Blues host the Reds. The hosts have only dropped two points for the season while their opponents have only managed to accrue the same amount.

The boys from the Harbour City are red-hot favourites to bounce straight back into the winner’s circle after dropping their first points of the season last week in Brisbane. Their opponents are dead last and yet to register a win with their title defence yet to get into first gear.

The Sky Blues have been rock solid all week at $1.55 to win their seventh match from eight starts. There has been no money for the visitors who have drifted even further from $5.50 to $5.75. The draw has also drifted slightly from $4.10 to $4.20.

Although the Reds have won four of the last six fixtures between the two sides there is little evidence pointing towards that result in this one. Sydney may have walked away with just a point last week but on another night it could have been an easy win with the team having a massive 18 shots on goal.

There’s been nothing stunning about Adelaide’s campaign to date, last week they did manage to take an early lead thanks to a superb Tarek Elrich cross that left Josh Risdon with no way to avoid hitting it into his own net but they were not able to hang onto that advantage, conceding within three minutes.

While Sydney have had a healthy squad to choose from all season, the same can’t be said about the Reds. They have been ravaged by injuries but are slowly getting troops back, with striker Henrique a welcome inclusion following a MCL strain.

Forward Sergi Guardiola has seemingly recovered from an injury last weekend to be named in the squad.  Though, United won’t be helped by having coach Guillermo Amor watch this one from the grandstand after his sanction last week.

I’m backing the hottest team in the country, Sydney FC to win their fifth straight home game.
