Tonight sees the return to the field for the Asian teams in the their World Cup qualifier bids. Australia has already qualified after they secured a draw in Qatar last Sunday morning.
If the betting on the World Cup qualifiers are anything to go by, then the Socceroos are heavy favourites. Sportsbet have them paying $1.40 and Bahrain at $8.50 with the draw paying $4.00.
For those of you that remember you will know that Australia were lucky to escape with a win after an injury time goal in Bahrain. Not only that, Australia have a host of stars out with injury. If that wasn’t enough, Bahrain have a lot on the line as they are trying to secure the 3rd spot so they can playoff for the remaining place in the 2010 World Cup.
Australia hasn’t been in the best of form lately but have been getting the desired results. Pim Verbeek has come under intense scrutiny in recent times for the defensive nature of the team. For most of us though, we don’t really care as long as we can ride the wave of excitement next year in South Africa.
In the other group 1 game that is taking place tonight Japan will be playing Qatar. Sportsbet have Japan at $1.35 and Qatar at $8.50 with the draw paying $4.40. I think Japan are a good thing here and is a solid bet if you want to do a multi bet. Not much value there at $1.35.
In group two betting of the Asian section of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup we see Korea Republic vs Saudi Araia and Iran vs U.A.E. In the first game Sportsbet has South Korea at $2.20 and the Saudis at $3.20.
The second game in the soccer betting tonight Sportsbet has Iran as heavy favourites paying $1.22. U.A.U are rank outsiders with betting on them paying $14.00.
The best value that I can see tonight is in the Korea and Saudi Arabia game. Korea will have some of their players that won 2-0 against U.A.E out and have qualification sealed up. The Saudis need 4 points from the remaining 2 games which makes them a real threat. They will be buoyed from two come-from-behind wins in their last two games.
Best Sportsbet bet of the day on World Cup qualifiers: Saudi Arabia to beat Korea Republic paying $3.20.
