Three South Australians from the Adelaide area recently won money from the SA Lotteries games. The prize money collected included prize amounts of $20000, $100000, and $1,000,000. In each case, the winners were average folk who assume their winnings will be spent on home improvements and car purchases.
The biggest prize winner was an Adelaide Hills man, who won a $1,000,000 Division 1 prize while playing the Monday X Lotto on July 22, 2013. The man claimed his lucky victory was the result of 25 years playing the same numbers.
The man claimed his lotto numbers comprise of birthdays which have a special meaning to him. Because of his habit of playing the same numbers, he instantly recognized his victory when he saw the winning numbers in the newspaper.
He said, “Hello, those numbers look familiar!”
The winner claims he has a sense of relief and pure contentment. He plans on buying a new home with the prize money. His first act of celebration was to go to his favourite pub and buy a chicken parmigiana. He also plans to upsize to a big schnitzel just this once.
The winning numbers for the Money X Lotto were 4, 7, 8, 11, 23, and 31. The supplementary numbers were 12 and 39. The winning prize ticket was purchased at “BP On the Run” at West Terrace in Adelaide.
Meanwhile, a woman from Adelaide says she couldn’t sleep even one second the night she won a $20,000 prize playing the SA Lotteries. The woman from the Northern suburbs of Adelaide won top prize playing the $1 Instant Scratchies game.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, says she was sitting in a cafe when she scratched off the ticket and learned she had won. When she took the ticket to the vendor who had sold it to her, the cashier told her she had won a $20,000 prize. The woman began to shake and was told to sit down by the employee, who got the lottery player a chair. The lady bought her Instant Scratchies $1 ticket from the Northgate Newsagency, at the Northgate Village Shopping Centre on Folland Avenue in Northgate, South Australia.
The $20,000 prize winner says she plans on taking a driving holiday later this year, so the money should come in handy. She is considering the idea of buying a new car, “so I can make sure I actually make it to my destination.”
A pensioner from the Western suburbs of Adelaide won a $100 thousand prize on an Instant Scratchies $3 ticket on July 16th, 2013. The retired woman said she wasn’t sure what she would do with the money, but her first idea was to fix up her house. One happy thought was the idea of collecting her winnings and seeing the look on the faces of the people at her bank when she goes to deposit the cheque.
When the pensioner won her prize money, she was at a shopping centre. When she scratched off the ticket, she claims she saw “all these zeroes”. The winning ticket in this case was purchased at the Kilkenny Lotteries Kiosk in Centro Arndale in Kilkenny.
