Americain Favoured To Take Out Australian Cup First Up

by Noah Taylor Last Updated

Melbourne Cup winner Americain has moved into favouritism for the Australian Cup with online bookmaker following the scratching of Lucas Cranach.

Priced at $4.00 on Thursday, Americain is now into $2.50.

Americain has clearly been the punters choice, with more bets placed on him than all the other horses combined.

“Americain will need to be at its best first up but the punters seem happy to take it, even now that its odds have shortened dramatically. He is the only one they want,” said’s Shaun Anderson.
