One AFL punter is pretty happy with the Dockers off-season signings, so much so that they’ve gone and placed $20,000 on them to salute in the Grand Final next year. The Dockers firmed from $51 to $26 with the TAB on the back of the bet which will net the tipster a lazy $1,020,000 collect.
To be honest, it’s not just the signings of Brad Hill and Cam McCarthy but also the fully fit 2015 Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe, Aaron Sandilands, Harley Bennell and Michael Johnson that has this punter’s confidence sky-rocketing.
The Dockers finished in 16th place this season with only four wins which was a dramatic fall from grace from the year before when they won the minor premiership before being bundled out by Hawthorn in the penultimate weekend of the finals.
Perhaps the biggest recruit that Fremantle has landed so far in the trade period is ex-Hawk Hill. The triple premiership star is rated a $2.75 chance to accumulate more disposals than his brother, Stephen, next year, while also being $21 to win the Docker’s best and fairest.
Without doubt, the biggest bombshell to be confirmed in the trade period is Hawthorn great Sam Mitchell’s move west to the Eagles. It has effected the betting markets to with West Coast firming from $17 to $15 for the 2017 flag.
The Hawks look set to sign Swan Tom Mitchell and Sun Jaegar O’Meara which has lead one punter to place $8,000 on them to win what would be their fourth flag in five years. The club moved into $7.50 from $8 for the premiership.
In other trade news, North Melbourne are not happy with their compensation pick for star midfielder Daniel Wells after his move to Collingwood. The West Australian is reportedly receiving $1.8 million over three years at his new club. The Kangas are not happy with pick 32 for the player who received the most Brownlow votes for the club this season. North have slid from $51 to $67 for the flag following Wells’ departure.
