World Cup punter lands 12-leg multi for $32,000 collect

Wed, Oct 12, 4:13pm by Staff Writer

An ambitious $200 multi across 12 legs of World Cup qualifying matches has yielded one lucky Sportsbet punter a $32,278 return.

The Sydney punter poured over the World Cup qualifying form of 24 different nations across two different continents in order to land a bet of around 165/1.

Not content with simple head to head market, the punter found some value by going with a variety of different options.

He took the over 2.5 goals in the France – Bulgaria match (5), took Uganda with a two-goal start over Ghana, backed Holland to win by more than goal again Belarus, then took straight win bets on Belgium, Sweden, Greece, Montenegro, Germany, Croatia, Senegal and Ivory Coast. The final leg was for both teams to score on the Poland-Denmark game, which was easily achieved with a 3-2 scoreline.

The only results he really had to sweat on was Sweden beating Luxembourg, which they did via a 58th minute winner, and Croatia-Finland where the visiting Croatians led early and then held off Finland.

After the latest round of qualifying, the market for who will win the various European groups is more clear. Portugal may trial Switzerland by three points in Group B, but the European champions are $1.83 to win it, with Switzerland $1.91.

Belgium, who are level with Greece on top of Group H, are just $1.20 to win that group, while England are $1.14 to win Group F after drawing with Slovenia to sit two points clear.

Germany, yet to drop a point or concede a goal, are $1.02 to win group C, while Spain are $1.36 in their head to head battle with Italy ($2.88) in Group G.

The two open groups are Group D, where Wales (5 pts) are $3.10, Serbia (7 pts) $3.20 and Austria (7pts) $3.50. and Group E, where Poland (7 pts) are $2.50 ahead of Romania (5 pts) ($4) and Montenegro ($4) (7 pts).
