Golf Betting: 2011 Farmers Insurance PGA Open

Wed, Jan 26, 3:51pm by Kevin Pitstock

The site of the 2011 Farmers Insurance PGA Open golf tournament is San Diego, California and it will be played from January 27th to the 30th. This large golf tourney will be played at the prestigious. Torrey Pines Golf Courses. Golf Magazine has deemed it one of the Top 100 courses in the world to play. They will use the North and South course. The North Course is used during the weekday and is 6874 yards and considerate an average course in the professional ranks. The South Course is stretched out over 7607 yards and is a monster to manage. A few years back they added 28 bunkers and over 500 total yards in anticipation for the 2008 U.S. Open. The South Course is used also for the final rounds on the weekends. This event has had several names and sponsors over the years since its inception in 1952. Farmers Insurance became the main sponsor last year.

Last year Ben Crane escaped with a one stroke victory on the final hole. But this year Tiger Woods is back to play and he is a six-time champion of this course. Wood is currently ranked #3 in on the Professional Golfers Association tour. Tiger hasn’t entered any tournaments in this 2011 season. This will be his first. Tiger Woods also hold the course overall record at 266. Also returning for the event is Phi Mickelson. He is a three-time winner, last tasting victory at Torrey Pines in 2001. Mickelson played in the Abu Dhabi Classic last week and ended with a weak 37th place. Now for our picks and predictions for the 2011 Farmers Insurance tournament.

The below odds are all from Centrebet. If you don’t have an account at Centrebet – get one today!

Not So Good Bets

  • Phil Mickelson 19.00: As stated above, he is struggling and hasn’t had a good round of professional golf since June of 2010. You can save your cash and not bet on Phil.
  • Dustin Johnson 21.00: Dustin is ranked as the #16 golfer in the world and has been given 21.00 odds to win this event. Johnson has done nothing so far this year to make him worthy of placing a bet on him. Stay away.

Good Bets

  • Tiger Woods 3.50: Tiger Woods comes in to this with the 3.50 odds. Being a winner of this event six times, it will be hard to not but on him. If you want to make some small money, bet on Tiger Woods.
  • Charles Howell III 29.00: Possibly a diamond in the rough for the tournament is Charles Howell III. He has been playing high caliber of golf but has not won. He has a lot of value at 29.00 odds.
  • Bill Haas 34.00: My pick to click for the Farmers Insurance Open is Bill Haas. He is ranked #50 in the world and has place twice in two events in 2011. At 34.00 odds he certainly garners my attention for a bet.
  • Robert Allenby 51.00: The Australian golfer Robert Allenby is listed at a respectable 51.00 odds. He has the potential to take down the field in this event.
  • KJ Choi 81.00: Always finished respectable. Could be his turn.
  • Stuart Appleby 101.00: We will put a small wager in on him.
  • Stewart Cink 81.00: He has won tournaments in the past. Might be worth putting in a bet on Cink to win the Farmers Insurance Open.

Remember, all of the odds listed above come from one of our favorite sportsbooks to bet on golf – Centrebet. Good luck with your 2011 Farmers Insurance Open betting!
