Melito will run favourite in the 201 Chipping Norton Stakes over 1600m. Some have a question mark over his ability to go the 1600m, but I don’t have a concern over that. My concern is the barrier, but I think he’s good enough to win this race with the tough draw,
The clear threat in the race is Maluckyday who was the runner up the 2011 Melbourne Cup. Other notable horses in the race include the Chris Waller trainer Danleigh and you also have to include Centennial Park along with Theseo.

2011 Chiiping Norton Stakes Best Bet
I think the winner will come from the two favourites and I believe Melito is a clear favourite. The Redoute’s Choice Mare has now won over $1.6 million and I think she is a clear stand out in this field. I backed her last start in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes when many didn’t want a bar of her first up after a spell. She put that theory to rest and now she has to back it up by winning over an extra 200m.
At the time of writing Melito is paying $3.20 on Sportsbet. Check the latest odds now.
