Flemington Saturday – Best Bets and Selections

Fri, Jan 27, 4:31pm by Senior Writer

It’s a big weekend of racing in Victoria and while our weekly preview took in Thursday’s meeting at Caulfield, we thought it only fair to give you our thoughts on Saturday’s meeting at Flemington.

We won’t be going into the usual depth in terms of the preview, but we will be giving you a Best Bet and Best Value as well as our top four picks in each of the races.

Our Best is easy to remember, Race 1 No.1 Jennifer Lynn. This filly looks a very promising type and she was excellent in good races during the spring. She progressed from a win at Coleraine to win back-to-back races at Coleraine and Flemington. She was then close-up in the Sandown Guineas.

She comes into this 1100m race first-up but has won first-up before and has the talent to overcome her rivals here.

Our Best Value comes up in Race 8 No.5 Bradman. This guy has had a bad reputation among punters in recent years but seems to have hit a late career purple patch. He won very well at Caulfield last time after finishing close-up at his previous three runs.

He won over this track and distance back in June last year and looks nice odds at around $12, stepping up in class here.

For those having a bet on Friday night at Moonee Valley, our Best Bet there is Race 4 No.1 Fudged and our best value is race 6 No. 6, It Is Written, who is $51

Here are the selections for the Flemington meeting

Race 1: 1, 2, 5, 6

Race 2: 6, 1, 7, 3

Race 3: 4, 2, 5, 1

Race 4: 12, 7, 1, 2

Race 5: 2, 7, 1, 3

Race 6: 2, 3, 7, 8

Race 7: 4, 9, 11, 2

Race 8: 2, 8, 5, 6

Race 9: 3, 5, 11, 2
