The mid-week horse races are upon us once again and today we have decided to mix it up a little bit and give our loyal punters a few long shots to take a punt on. Today’s main meets are at Sandown, Warwick Farm and Eagle Farm. Plenty of betting action to be had in the main city in each State along the East Coast of Australia.
If you go to Sportsbet.com.au you can see that the fixed odds are currently available to bet on. You’ll also notice the likes of Sportingbet.com.au don’t have their fixed odds available yet. I find that getting on early at Sportsbet can provide good value for me – so if you want to do the same I recommend checking out Sportsbet.
Best Bets Sandown – Wednesday 2nd January, 2011
I have been following this horse very closely. I own a thoroughbred myself and have seen Vienna Snitzel race several times. She comes home well and kicks when he looks like she’s going to get run down. In his last start at Moe she was struggling to find a run when racing behind the leader and came home with an almighty rush to just get to the post first. She now has 3 starts for 2 wins with prize money of over 20k.
In her last start she paid about $4.50 and today she goes around at fixed odds of $26 on Sportsbet. Obviously she steps up in the class of runners she’s racing against because she’s moving from Moe to Sandown but I think she’ll be able to mix it well here. Look for her to come home with a bang.

Best Bets for Warwick Farm – Wddnesday 2nd January, 2011
This exceptionally bred 6YO gelding with a sire none other than Street Cry goes around today and will do well. He has 92k in prize money and even though his form doesn’t suggest he’ll do much, I beg the differ. Trained by the on fire Chris Waller and ridden by Glyn Schofield I think the fixed odds of $4.80 about him are good value here.
He last raced 5 days ago at Cantebury finishing 4-8 and goes around today in this 27k race with the best win % in the race. He’s carrying 56kg and starts in the 2nd widest barrier (8).

Best Bets Eagle Farm – Wednesday 2nd January, 2011
This 3YO filly won her maiden last start at Doomben after having three 2nd place finishes before that. She goes around today in the 1200m Patinack Farm Plate which is an extra 100m from her last start. I loved her run in her last start and think she’ll come up with the goods here. She should be too classy for the rest of them today, and the $6.00 is very enticing here.
