How to turn $1 into $90k in just four races

Mon, Jul 3, 12:12pm by Staff Writer

Is this the best $1 bet you have ever seen?

One Sportsbet punter has turned a $1 investment on four races at Caulfield on Saturday into an astonishing return of nearly $90,000 after selecting four double-figure priced runners.

His first success came up in Race 4, where he nailed a $10 shot when Unique Lovely saluted for jockey Brandon Stockdale and his father, trainer Frankie.

Punters following Australian Gambling’s tips would have also found Unique Lovely, but while our winning run ended there, this lucky racing fan’s day kept getting better.

Not many punters found My Paisann when the former Kiwi surged late in Race 6 under Nikita Beriman to win at $26, but our guy was on for a big collect, with the $1 bet now turning into a $260 double on his final two runners.

Race 7 saw another upset result when Nesbo tracked wide the entire race but saluted at a starting price of $41. The only negative for our guy was that he took the $23 fixed odds, so instead of over $10,000 riding on the last winner, it was actually just under $6000.

To collect, our punter needed the former European Radipole to get up in the final race at odds of $15.

There were probably a few nervous moments as Radipole looked for a run along the inside coming into the straight. But Brian Higgins was able to find his way through and dived through late to just hold on against Magic Consol.

The as yet unidentified punter could have hardly have believed his luck nailing four such unfancied runners, but he walked away with a collect of $89,700.
