Today we have quite a few best bets at Rosehill to complement the other big meeting today at Caulfield. Make sure you check out our Caulfield bets bets for 26th February 2011.
Wicked Energy Drink (Bm80) 2400m
I like the favourite here a lot in Telesmon. I backed him in his last start win, so I could be biased a little bit. He is currently paying $2.70 fixed odds on Sportingbet. Very well bred being out of Street Cry he won over 2200m last start. He’s the standout in this field and I’m confidently going to bet on him.
Red Rock Deli Fireball Quality 1100m
Young Josh Adams is aboard Moshe today in the biggest race day of his young career. Moshe is out of Bel Esprit and has had two starts for two wins. The best odds currently available are even odds of $2.00 at Sportingbet. It’s a very small field and I think is definitely the best horse in the race. His last two starts were over 1000m and steps up just 100m extra today.
The main threat in the race is the 2nd favourite Celts who is the son of Lonhro. He’s coming back from a 14 week spell and won his trial at Rosehill. Trained by Peter Snowden he is a solid chance in this race – but I think Moshe is the better of the two here.
Franklins Silver Slipper Stakes 1100m
A lot of smart money has come for this horse. The clever money is all over this horse with one online bookmaker even giving $3.00 for Satin Shoes because they think Straight Gold is a certainty. Public sentiment is that Satin Shoes is the classier of the two and will win easily here.
Many horse racing tipsters, including myself beg the differ. Satin Shoes has remained relatively untested so far and in my opinion made to look better than the daughter of Flying Spur actually is.
Straight Gold is by Stratum and has had the one start for one win. The 2YO Chestnut Colt will jump 2nd favourite in this race at $2.60 on Sportingbet and I think that is a great bet here. Don’t follow the public by going with Satin Shoes and get on Straight Gold in this race. You’ll thank me later!
Schweppes Hobartville Stakes 1400m
I’m going for a bit of an upset here even though I love the horse and favourite Somepin Anypin. The favourite has drawn barrier 12 here and has the young and highly skilled Josh Adams aboard. Somepin Anypin took a while to get going last start, but the son of Pins had it all his own way beating Fast Clip (who won last night) and Startsmeup.
Ilovethiscity fought on bravely when finished 4th to Master Harry last start. He got too far back but tried hard and finished off the race well.
At $4.80 on Sportsbet.com.au I’m going to put him slightly ahead of the $3.50 Somepin Anypin in the Hobartbille Stakes of 2011.
De Bortoli Millie Fox Qualilty 1300m
This daughter of Anabaa won her last three starts before being freshened for 8 weeks. She had a trial at Rosehill on the 15th of February in which she won. She has drawn barrier 3 and has Nathan Berry on board. Paying $5.50 fixed odds on Sportsbet I like this mare’s chances.
Other punters are predicting a win for Montana Flyer in this race at $7.50. The Gai Waterhouse trained daughter of Flying Spur had two trial wins before a last start 5th first up. Look for improvement here.
