Australia’s best racehorse Winx has tuned up for her return to the racetrack with a third place in a trial at Rosehill on Tuesday.
Winx is on an extraordinary run of 13 straight victories, including both the 2015 and 2016 Cox Plates, Australia’s best weight-for-age race.
She will look to continue that record when she resumes over 1400 metres in the Apollo Stakes on February 11 at Randwick.

And trainer Chris Waller is entirely satisfied with her build up which has included two trials, both of which she has finished third in.
Winx has not won any of her past 14 trials despite plotting an unbeaten run when she actually gets to raceday.
On Tuesday, she settled at the rear of the field over 1000 metres and worked home well in a nine-horse field with jockey Hugh Bowman keeping a firm hold.
Waller has plotted four runs for Winx this autumn, with plans for her to progress from the Apollo to the Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm on February 25 and then to the George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill on March 18.
At this stage the plans are for the campaign to culminate with Sydney’s richest event, the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on April 8.
Sportsbet are also offering a market for Winx to go through 2017 unbeaten in at least six runs, with one of them needing to be the Cox Plate.
Winx is currently rated the best race mare in the world as well as the best turf horse, with a mark of 132.
