Lucky Lotteries – Super Jackpot & Mega Jackpot Draws

Lucky LotteriesLucky Lotteries is Australia’s favourite kind of old-school draw lotto. Instead of selecting groups of numbers and hoping they match up with balls drawn from a mechanised barrel, these NSW Lotteries games work more like a raffle: you buy tickets with unique identification codes, and you win if your ticket number(s) should come up in the draw. There are thousands of winners in every drawing, with millions of Aussie dollars in prize money up for grabs in both the Super Jackpot and the Mega Jackpot.

How Do Lucky Lotteries Draws Work?

There are two separate Lucky Lotteries games: the $2 Super Jackpot and the $5 Mega Jackpot. Both games offer a set number of tickets for each drawing, which takes place shortly after all the tickets for that draw have been sold. All drawings take place at the NSW Lotteries offices at Sydney Olympic Park.

There are no payout divisions in Lucky Lotteries jackpot games. Winning tickets are drawn using a random number generator (RNG), and there can only be one valid ticket for each available prize. This ensures that all prizes are guaranteed, and you will never have to share your winnings amongst multiple ticketholders – which is so often the case in Australian lottery games such as TattsLotto, Oz Lotto, and Powerball.

Both the $2 Jackpot Lottery and the $5 Jackpot Lottery award a first, second and third prize, along with thousands of smaller cash returns as well as free tickets for upcoming draws. There are also two $1,000 consolation prizes in every draw for tickets that are one number away from winning first place (e.g. if the first-prize ticket number is 344, the entries numbered 343 and 345 will win $1,000 each).

After all the prizes are award, the jackpot number is drawn. If that ticket has already claimed a cash prize (excluding one-off consolations), then the Lucky Lotteries jackpot is won. But if the number drawn does not correspond to a winning ticket from that same draw, then the main prize jackpots and the ticketholder instead receives 10 free entries for future draws.

Super Jackpot & Mega Jackpot Tickets

Unlike other Australian lotto games, you don’t get to choose your own numbers when you play Lucky Lotteries. All ticket numbers are computer generated, and there are no systems, syndicates, or super combos available. There are, however, two different ways to purchase tickets at OzLotteries.com:

  • Sequential – Here, you purchase a group of tickets in numerical order. So, for example: if we bought five sequential Super Jackpot tickets and the first is numbered 121, the remainder of the entries would be numbered 122, 123, 124, and 125.
  • Random – Rather than buying a sequence of numbers, here you purchase a batch of up to five tickets with random entry codes. So if we bought five random Mega Jackpot tickets, they could be numbered 024, 758, 456, 923, and 312.

Each Super Jackpot ticket costs $2.65 (including agent’s commission), and you can buy them for up to 10 future draws. Mega Jackpot tickets cost $6.45 each (including agent’s commission), and can be purchased up to two draws in advance.

To buy tickets online, simply register an account at the Oz Lotteries website, add some funds using one of the secure AUD banking methods available, and then select however many random or sequential Lucky Lotteries tickets you wish to purchase. The whole process only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and you can even do it on your mobile.

The Super Jackpot and Mega Jackpot draws are open to all Australian punters when you play online at www.OzLotteries.com – our #1 Internet lotto site.
