NRL Round 19 Betting: Penrith Panthers Vs Manly Sea Eagles – Sunday 23rd of July 2011
To wrap up Sunday afternoon Football we travel to Centrebet Stadium where the Panthers will be faced with their toughest challenge of the season, conquering the Eagles. The Panthers were somehow the victors last week against the Eels who managed to let them score a try after the full time buzzer had sounded. This should not have been the case but I was happy as I tipped them J. The Eagles cruised past the Knights up at Ausgrid Stadium in an easy 22 point win, with the margin staying unchanged from the first half…. Yes, they were winning by 22 at half time!
Something that stood out for the Eagles very early in the season was the level of fitness at the club. They have the ability to play 80 minutes like no other team in the comp. It will be interesting to see if the Dragons can pull of such a feat as 7 sets on their own line when they face them later down the line. This loss to the Dragons was the Eagles only blemish in the last 9 matches.
The Panthers have had a love-hate relationship since 2008, with the record going win one, lose one, win one etc for the last 5matches. The Panthers are due for a win if this relationship is to continue. However the Eagles are one of the “elite 4” at the moment, and the panthers are just barely hanging on to 8th position. They met in Round 11 this year and the Eagles got up 22-16.
Luke Lewis (Late Withdrawal)
The Panthers have maintained a good record for Georgallis with the record sitting at 3-1 since he took over from Matt Elliot. Gould would be happy with the way the team has been playing with some consistent injuries to varying players. Unfortunately the Panthers best player Luke Lewis will be watching from the sidelines as he nurses his shoulder injury.
With Lewis out it is up to their other super stars to perform well. They still have Jennings, Civoniceva and Coote to look forward to, which is enough to beat a lot of teams. But compare that to some of the players that Manly are fielding and they are a long shot at even getting close.
The Panthers are 6-3 at home in 2011, not a bad record. Against the Eagles they are 16-20 at the venue though. One thing going for the Panthers is that the Eagles away record is not as good as the rest of the top 4, its 5-4.
So the Eagles are aiming for back to back wins on the road and also to secure yet another hat-trick of wins in 2011. A win here and they get to play at home against the Tigers for 4 straight, then the Roosters, Eels and Bulldogs follow…. It could be 8 in a row come round 24. If they can keep playing the way they are at the moment there is no reason why they shouldn’t.
The team is boosted by the return of William Hopoate from a ham string injury suffered in Origin 2. Hopoate was in great form before this and I look forward to seeing how he returns from injury. They have such a super star line up; Brett Stewart, Gleen Stewart, Lyon, Matai, Hopoate, Foran, Ballen, Kite, Watmough, and even big Joe Galuvao is playing up a treat at the moment. This is the best all-round line up in the comp and they are still my tip to make the Grand Final and should win it.
So a Grand Final bound team is playing a side that is struggling to stay in the top 8. They are playing at the lesser sides home ground, but they only managed to win in Golden Point against the Eels here last week. I can’t see anything of the sort happening on Sunday. The Eagles are going to win this one easily… I wonder if they will need to hit 5th gear this week.
The Eagles are @ $1.42 which are extremely good odds given the circumstances! Lewis is out, and they are paying $1.42, wow! Get all over this with big coin. 7 or over is paying almost double at $1.87 and this is my value bet of the week.
