NRL Round 22 Betting: Manly Sea Eagles Vs Sydney Roosters – Sunday 7th of August 2011
Can the Roosters beat the second placed Eagles on the free to air Sunday afternoon match? Many would think you’re mad for saying yes, but there may be some hope for all you Roosters die hard’s out there.
The Eagles are coming off a loss to the Tigers in round 21, a good come from behind victory that left a lot punters scratching their heads. The Roosters were able to put away the Bulldogs in front of a home crowd at the SFS.
These two met in round 2 of the competition with the Eagles winning 27-16 at the SFS. The Roosters getting a win over the Eagles seems to be hard to come by, with the total sitting at 76 to the Eagles and just 39 to the Roosters. At Brookvale it’s even more convincing with 32-11 the record in favour of the home crowd.
The Eagles look like they have come off the boil since winning 6 in a row earlier in the year. They are the only team in contention of taking the minor premiership from the Storm, but they are even a long shot at that. Still, 9 from their last 11 is a record that most teams would die for. So what has changed since the start of the year for the Eagles? A lot of it comes down to the return of a lot of good players, as well as the return in FORM for a lot of others.
Brett Stewart has been sidelined for ma long time and is now gelling with his brother Glen for the first time since 2008. In 2008 they were able to humiliate the Storm like no other team in a Grand Final, winning 40-0. I wonder if they will meet again?
The Eagles have been probably the best second half team in the comp in 2011. They have been able to stick it out for 80 minutes like no other. For the last 2 weeks something has been lacking though. Their energy levels looked good in both games, but for some reason they have only been able to score a total of 6 points. If the Roosters score like they did in the second half last week they will need to do some work in the back end to take the cake and eat it too.
So with the Season all but over for the Roosters it is down to pride for the last 5 matches. Last week they ruined the Bulldogs chances of making the finals, and this is the second year in a row that they have done this. Last week was the 3rd time in 2011 that the Roosters have been able to score over 30 points, and they have won them all.
Scoring plenty of points is what got the Roosters to the Grand final in 2010, if they can back this up again they can easily beat the Eagles.
The most worrying aspect of the Roosters in 2011 is the fact that they have not managed to win a single away game all season. NOT ONE!!!!! What the hell is that? Even if they had won all of their home games they would only be equal with the Knights in 8th position. Not even the Storm have won all their home games so what chance are the Roosters?
The Eagles have been the best defensive team when it comes to metres conceded in 2011, averaging just 1261 against per game. The Roosters have the second worst amount of metres gained with 1271 per game. So with this, as well as the fact the Eagles are second on the ladder, will get the Manly side over the line. I am going against what most to believe a drumming and think it will only be a 1-12 victory.
The Eagles are paying $1.28 for the H2H. Despite being a very low payout it is a very safe bet, so for those that like to bet massive and win big this is a good bet for you. For the others that prefer to bet small and win big you would be better to look for the 13+ which is paying $2.02.
