Newcastle Knights Vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Betting

NRL Round 26 Betting: Newcastle Knights Vs South Sydney Rabbitohs

This is the most anticipated match of round 26 with both teams now fighting it out for the last spot in the 8. The Knights are currently occupying this spot, but it’s only based points differential, therefore the winner takes all in this Friday night clash.

Both teams are coming off round 25 losses to teams that are of varying quality. The Knights were upstaged by the Bulldogs who are a theoretical chance of making the 8. The best result for the Dogs would be a tie, but we will run over that in their article. The Rabbitohs had to travel all the way to Suncorp to play against the inform 3rd placed Broncos. They did will to get beaten by only 12, and it’s not like they put in 110% either.

History is massively against the Rabbits at Ausgrid stadium with 15 of the total 17 played favouring the home side. The Rabbitohs have won the last 2 that are played at Gosford though, so it’s not like a win at the central coast is unheard of.

Newcastle Knights NRL Betting Preview – WWLLL

I have mentioned a couple of times over the season that the Knights seem to play well against poorer teams but can’t seem to do much when it comes to the better teams. They have only managed 2 wins against top 8 sides and this stat stayed consistent 2 weeks ago after they lost to the Broncos. So the question begs, are the Rabbitohs a top 8 side? Well if they win this one they will be, and with 4 from their last 5 they sure have been playing like one.

So there are really only a couple of things that lead me to believe that the Knights could win here. The first is the fact that it is played at Ausgrid Stadium where they have only lost to the Rabbitohs twice. They have only managed 6-5 record at home this year so a loss will see them finish on 50/50, not the best home season record.

The other factor that will get them over the line is a freak performance from a freak player, Uate. This guy can seriously change the outcome of a match with some astonishing plays. The problem with this is that even if he does have one of those games, there are at least 3 players on the other team that could replicate and get their team over the line.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Betting Preview – WWWWL

The Rabbitohs went to Brisbane without knowing whether or not it would be a do or die against the Broncos. By the time the match started they already knew that the match was null and void as it would none the less come down to round 26 after the Knights were beaten by the Doggies.

It was a lacklustre performance from the Rabbitohs with a completion rate of 64% and a massive 14 errors. I reckon they could have easily beaten the Broncos if they put in half the effort they had done over the last 4 weeks. None the less it is up to them to bring their A game or leave it on the bench. It just worries me to see a team come complacent based on other results.

Hopefully the Rabbitohs can turn it on just as easily as they turned it off last week.

Mid week performance testing has got Merrit and Sutton all cleared to play this Friday. There is 2 of those game breakers I mentioned above…. not to forget little Sandow who has been known to steal a few wins in his career.

Bookmakers Odds & Prediction For Rabbitohs vs Knights

Sure the Knights have the home ground but it has not been too good for them this year. The Rabbitohs need to improve their away record with just 3 from 8; a win will make it a bit more respectable but still not enough for a title contender. Rabbitohs have too many impact players that can make a big difference. Bunnies by 12.

Best Bets Newcastle Knights Vs South Sydney Rabbitohs

Both teams are fairly even odds and the Rabbits are paying $1.95 as they are slight outsiders. 1-12 is $3.15 for the Bunnies.
