NRL Round 16 Betting: South Sydney Rabbitohs Vs Brisbane Broncos – Friday 24th of June 2011
The Broncos will be feeling hot after defeating the Dragons up at Suncorp last week in an impressive 21-14 victory. They were bashed around the park but showed they can take a lot of punishment at the hands of an out of sorts Dragons team. The Rabbitohs featured in a bottom 8 clash last week against the Titans and also got up 31-8. 2 teams coming of much needed wins to meet on Friday, I like this one.
The Rabbitohs need to start winning a lot of games on the trot if they want to have any chance of making the finals, let alone having an impact. The Broncos have already proved themselves worthy of the Finals in 2011 and consolidated it further with a win over the team that has been on top of the ladder for most of the season.
This match will be played on neutral ground at NIB stadium over in WA. This is to spar interest in Rugby League in the hopes of bringing a team into the comp over the coming years. Will this match be exciting enough to get the Westerner’s interested? I definitely think so!

This week it is a much hyped clash between the two starting QLD centres in Greg Inglis and Justin Hodges. Both players have struggled with injury in 2011, with GI being back for a few weeks now and Hodges making a return for the first time in 5 weeks. Inglis has the upper hand with a 3 games preparation, but when Hodges returned from a pre-season injury at the start of the year he didn’t look out of place at all and was a contender for man of the match.
The Rabbitohs are currently in 11th place and are just 1 win away from the 6th placed Tigers. This shows how tight this competition is; even though they have had a poor season they are still not far of a good season in respect to the ladder.
The Broncos season looks to be back on track after making it back to back hat-tricks with last Friday’s win over the Dragons. The first hat-trick was one of losses in rounds 9, 10 and 11. They turned this around with wins in rounds 12, 13 and 14. We have seen how much of a roll the Broncos can get on already and they will be hungry to continue this as they will be without the Origin players next week.
Their win against the Dragons was probably their best performance of the season; they were absolutely hammered all over the park and looked like they were out on their feet. There may have been plenty of errors in the match, but I believe this to be a result of the level of intensity in the match.
The neutral ground does the punters no favours here. The only advantage I can think of is the slightly colder climate suiting the Sydney team, but this is so minimal that it should not have any effect on the match. The Broncos are the better team and are in better form as well. Look to the Broncos getting up by 1-12 in a thriller.
Sportingbet Australia has the Broncos as comfortable favourites paying $1.52 for H2H. 1-12 is the better of the 13 point margin option @ $3.10
