Just like anything else in life, no two poker sites are the same and how much you like one over the other is dependent on what type of player you are, what you give the most priority to or even what types of poker you enjoy playing.

Having been around since 1999, Tiger Gaming certainly have experience on their side. Experience of running a successful card site, of dealing with customer queries and of constantly working to create a better product.

They’re on the Chico Poker Network, which doesn’t boast the greatest number of players, but seems to be growing and they offer some interesting types of poker, including the rarely seen Chinese Poker. Throw in their famous Bad Beat Jackpots and ground-breaking policy on processing withdrawals and you’ve got yourself a site that marches to the beat of its own drum, which we very much welcome.

Playing at Tiger Gaming has another big advantage. They also have an Online Casino, Live Casino and a Sportsbook so if you enjoy other types of betting, you’ll be able to do them all under one roof.

Bonuses and Promotions

Welcome Offer

Poker welcome offers come in all shapes and sizes these days, from deposit bonuses to freerolls to one-off entries into special tournaments. Here it comes in the form of a double-your-money bonus but as ever with poker bonuses, it’s not quite as simple as it sounds.

At Sportsbooks and Casinos, you tend to get your bonus money straight away on making a deposit. Here it works differently. The double-your-money offer, or a 100% bonus as it’s also known, means you can get up to 1,000 AUD paid back to you but you’d have to play a hell of a lot of poker!

That’s because you get 5 AUD for every 50 AUD you pay in rake, so you’d have to be pretty busy at the tables to get anything like the full 1,000 AUD back. A task made even harder by the fact that you only have a maximum of 30 days to receive money paid back as a bonus.

Still, poker welcome offers aren’t meant to be huge gifts like those in sports or casino so the best way of looking at it is to just play normally, and little by little you’ll get money paid back to you. In other words, just think of it as a little bonus. Which of course, it is!

Freerolls and Other Bonuses

They offer several Weekly Cash Race Leaderboards, divided into preferred stakes. So, you could be on one weekly leaderboard for 0.25/0.50 AUD games and another for 1/2 USD games. The higher the stakes of the games, the bigger the prize pool of that Leaderboard and in addition to cash prizes, finishing in the top places also gives you entry into the Sunday Main Event, which has 150,000 AUD guaranteed. It’s important that players know they have to opt-in by going to Missions/Contests in the poker client.

If nothing in life makes you more sick to the stomach than losing a hand when you had a really strong hand yourself, then you’re going to love their Bad Beat Jackpot tables. Check for tables that have the yellow star and those are Bad Beat Jackpot tables, where losing the hand when you’re holding four deuces or better means everyone at the table gets paid. There’s a Progressive Jackpot put aside exactly for this and when a Bad Beat happens, you’ll get to keep 20% of that Jackpot with the winner of the hand banking 15% of it and the other players at the table sharing 12.5% of it.

Never heard of a Freebuy? It’s a cross between a freeroll and a rebuy! Freebuy tournaments are free to enter but players have the option to rebuy, for real money this time, if their chip stack goes below 1,000 chips. Rebuying obviously increases your chances of winning the tournament but it’s also perfectly possible to win the tournament or at least be in the money, without rebuying at all. Check the dedicated section on the site to see when they take place.

Poker Games and Tournaments

Poker Games

Texas Hold’em (both pot limit and no limit) is the most popular game in this town, just like it is in most others, and whether it’s cash games or tournaments, that’s the one you’ll find most of here.

But you’ll also find more than enough of other types, such as Pot-Limit Omaha, to keep you entertained. They’re also one of the few sites to offer Chinese Poker and Big2, so fans of those games who can’t play them at other sites can certainly do so here.

Tournaments and Cash Games

One of Tiger Gaming’s main assets is the sheer number of daily tournaments with varying buy-ins and across different formats.

To see what’s on offer when you fancy a game, go to Tourneys and then just filter them down to what you’re after. For example, if your priority is to enter a tournament starting in the next five minutes then filter by start time. If you want to play for bigger stakes, filter by buy-in amount and so on.

Once you’ve chosen your ‘tourney’ just go to ‘Registering’ and you’re in.

Banking Methods

Deposits and Withdrawals

There are around 15 different methods to deposit with. Generally starting at a minimum deposit of around 10 to 25 AUD, you can get money into your account using the likes of VISA, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill and even the old-fashioned Wire Transfer.

Most methods are free except somewhat bizarrely, Visa and Mastercard, who charge a pretty steep 7.5% on deposits. A wire transfer will also see you lose a chunk of change if you use it.

When it comes to withdrawals, they claim on their own site they offer the fastest payouts in the industry. That’s a pretty big claim and though we’re not going to say they’re the fastest, they’re pretty fast.

The good news is that the withdrawal request is approved within 24 hours (Monday to Friday), the bad news is that doesn’t mean you’re going to actually get the money straight after. So, we’re looking at about two business days after it’s approved till the money is actually with you. There’s a minimum withdrawal of 25 AUD and the maximum is between 1,000 and 10,000 AUD at a time depending on the method.

Whatever method and however many withdrawals are done, you can withdraw a max of 5,000 AUD a week and 15,000 AUD every 30 days.

Cryptocurrencies

These days Bitcoin isn’t the only currency we mean when talking about cryptocurrencies. There’s also Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dash and Ethereum, all of which are available as payment options here at Tiger Gaming.

The advantages of using cryptocurrencies is that they’re always free, the limits on deposits and withdrawals are higher and the transactions go through quicker.

The disadvantage is that if you don’t already understand cryptocurrencies and how they work, you’re going to have to learn. But it’s worth it because they’re useful to use in other walks of life as well. When it comes to withdrawals, Bitcoin and Litecoin are the only ones you can use but all are available for deposits.

Creating an Account

You’re going to need an account if you want to play. It’s just a case of filling out some basic details such as your name, address, e-mail and chosen password.

You’ll then also need to choose a deposit method. We always advise players to opt in to receiving Marketing communications about offers such as freerolls and special bonuses. You can always ignore the e-mails down the line but at least that way, you’re always up to date on what they’re giving away.

Customer Support

Like just about every other gambling site these days, they prefer it if players get in touch via LiveChat, which makes sense because it’s free and instant. There’s also an e-mail address if you prefer getting in touch that way but there doesn’t seem to be a phone line, which is a shame. It’s always an advantage if it’s there for specific circumstances.

On the plus side, they are available 24/7.

The first clue to the fact that it’s safe to play there is that they’ve been around forever (well, since 1999). The second is that they hold the Curacao license which involves being subject to constant checks on such things as keeping data safe and releasing customer funds as and when they’re requested. So yeah, you’re good to play here.
