Gems of the Silent Movie Era Come to Life on the Reels
Before colour and sound were introduced to the movie-making process – people would flock to theatres to see black and white silent movies. This era is bought to life on the reels of the Silent Movie pokies from IGT. You’ll spin to a distinctive piano track and see many ‘gems’ of this era bought to life in different bonus games. Don’t let the (mostly) black and white symbols put you off – this is a very lively and entertaining pokie!
There are 4 different bonus games to enjoy. Each has a different theme with unique symbols and characters, plus something to add to your bottom line.
Key reasons to take Silent Movie for a spin, in black and white:
All of the bonus games are triggered in the same way. You need 3 bonus symbols on the middle reels. The first 2 show cinema tickets, with the word bonus on top. The 3rd symbol is what decides which of the bonus features you’ll play.
These symbols stand out on the reels, as they are in full colour. The other symbols, which show a selection of the characters from each bonus game, are monochrome.
You’ll see a character made up to look like the moon (compete with a rocket in his eye) on the reels. This is also one of the features. It starts with picking a ticket booth, which gives you a number of free spins.
When those spins start the reels change with a ‘moon scape’ background and rockets / moon symbols on them. The advantage of this bonus is more wild symbols, connecting wins more often. You can retrigger with 3 bonus symbols.
There are new paired symbols (showing both Jekyll and Hyde together) on the reels this time. You get between 3 and 6 guaranteed winning spins on these new reels. If a spin does not generate a win, you keep going.
If you retrigger you get the same amount of winning spins that you started with added to your total.
These spins come with a 2x multiplier. They take place on a new set of reels featuring the famous bungling policemen. Before some spins you’ll see a police car drive across the bottom of the reels, this doubles the multiplier to 4x for that spin.
The final free spins game is a love story, set to a jaunty piano track. Once again, the reels change, with more scatters (with big win potential) added to the reels in the form of the main actress.
This game has a 5×3 setup with 30 win-lines. The characters from the bonus rounds are the highest paying symbols in the base game. These are headed by Dr Jekyll, worth 1000 coins for the maximum 5 – and followed by the man in the moon, lady from the romance and bungling cop.
Smaller wins come from items including a directors’ chair and clapper-board.
IGT has done a brilliant job adding life to the black and white design of this pokie. Your view is towards a big screen, which contains the reels. The name of the game above the reels has an art deco look, with curtains at either side.
There are many nice touches like the whirring sound of old movie projectors when you spin, plus fun sound effects for your wins.
Each of the features has a unique set of reels and background. The music (which is led by a piano in the base game) will also change to suit the theme of each bonus. If you hit a big win, expect search lights beaming upwards as your total is displayed.
Silent Movie has a completely different look to most IGT pokies – and is certainly worth taking for a spin. While the solid base game with a quirky piano soundtrack is entertaining enough, it is the 4 different bonus games which bring this pokie to life. Whether you take a trip to the moon, enjoy the split personality of Jekyll and Hyde, or enjoy the other ‘movies’, this pokie is a lot of fun!
