Wheel of Fortune is one of the most popular game shows on the planet. First appearing back in 1975, the show is based on ‘hangman’ style wordplay. The winning contestants get to take a spin of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ for some huge cash prizes. This IGT designed pokie takes the show on the road, where the more fuel you win on the reels, the further you’ll travel. In turn, this leads to additional bonus opportunities on the wheel.
This gameshow themed pokie is different to many ‘classic’ 3-reel Wheel of Fortune poker machines. You’ll find an ever-expanding range of features amongst the following highlights:
As long as there is no bonus symbol on the first reel you could be in line to be awarded the ‘wheelmobile wilds’ feature. When this feature is triggered, the wheelmobile will change up to four randomly selected symbols into additional wilds. This gives players more opportunity of both winning with other symbols and landing that oversized win for five wilds in a row.
In the bottom left-hand side of the screen there’s a fuel gauge. Every bonus symbol that appears will increase the amount of fuel, making the pointer on the fuel gauge rise. Land ten bonus symbols in total and you’ll fill up a tank completely. The more tanks you fill, the more bonus features are unlocked.
To activate the bonus feature you’ll need to land the bonus symbol three times or more across any of the reels. You’ll now have a spin of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’, which is initially filled with cash prizes. However, the following additional bonus features are added to the wheel based on fuel tanks collected:
5 tanks – Trigger the free play free spins feature, where free spins see increasing number of wilds during each spin.
13 tanks – An expanded segment on the wheel gives you three times the chance of winning the biggest prize.
25 tanks – Triggers the letter board picker, where you’ll enjoy the hangman style game from the TV show.
45 tanks – A multiplier wedge is added to the reels, which is applied to the next spin of the wheel.
80 tanks – Triggers the spin to win bonus, where you’ll have the option to accept or reject the win.
150 tanks – Unlock a mystery bonus feature that can be randomly triggered at any time.
Wheel of Fortune on Tour features the popular 5×3 reel set up. The game features a total of 30 win-lines that pay from left to right. The total cost of each spin is 50 credits (you’ll pay an additional 20 credits for the range of features).
Aside from the high paying wild, the Hollywood walk of fame represents the highest paying symbol, worth 1,250 coins for the maximum five in a row. The other standard symbols represent various landmarks in the US, such as the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, Route 66 and the Liberty Bell.
IGT has designed a pokie where you’ll see the reels through the windscreen of the wheelmobile. The vehicle appears to be travelling down the Las Vegas strip, with tall trees on either side.
Each of the travel themed symbols are transparent ensuring a great view of the route. Land a bonus symbol and see the fuel shoot like a flame into the tank (not entirely sure fuel ‘flaming’ into a tank is a good idea!). A fast-paced gameshow style soundtrack adds a nice energy to the game.
Wheel of Fortune on Tour is a fun and involving pokie, where more features open up the longer you play. Every time you fill the fuel tank, you’ll get closer to unlocking features such as free spins, multipliers or even play the word game too – each with big prizes on offer. This game is certainly different from most Wheel of Fortune pokies, with only the bonus wheel and sound effects the common link.
