Saturday night’s triple header starts with the Bronze Coast Titans facing off against the Penny-less Panthers. This bottom of the 8 clash is going to be played at Skilled Park on the Goldy, previously a bit of a fortress with the home crowd constantly getting the Titans home. This year the Crowd have been there but the wins have not. Some good from this is the fact that 2 of the Titans 3 wins have come from home, whats bad is that it is round 13 and they have just 3 wins! The Panthers are not fairing much better with just 4 wins, with the 4th coming last weekend against the Rabbitohs.
Needless to say both teams are struggling, and a win on the board is much needed by both. The Titans have mustered up wins against the Roosters, Tigers and Raiders, only one of which is currently in the top 8. The Panthers have beaten the Rabbitohs, Broncos, Raiders and Eels, also only one of which is in the top 8.
Titans Preview – LWLLL
I have seen a lot of players hit a form slump after signing long term deals with clubs a few times now. Some of them can be accounted to untimely injuries and the like. This year at the Titans the only long term signing has been coach Cartwright, and boy has he hit a form slump. The Titans have performed a lot better than expected since joining the competition back in 2008, and surprisingly this is their worst half of a season to date. They are struggling.
Its not hard to see why either, they lack direction. They have a young full back playing at 5/8 in William Zillman. Whilst good for minor injections and flashes of brilliance, he lacks the consistency and direction needed to be a leader in the team. The Eels have a similar problem with Mortimer in the same position, and look how they are going.
Panthers Preview – LLWLW
The Panthers have had some very good performances throughout the year, last weeks win over the Rabbitohs being one of these. Two weeks prior the smashed th Broncos with a 33-10 win, easily their best game of the year. This is the one thing the Panthers have over the Titans, they actually have the ability to be a good team. There haven’t been a whole lot of changes in their line up since last year so there is no reason why they shouldn’t be travelling just as well.
Gus Gould seems to have had an impact on the club since taking over as Director of Coaching in week 10 of the completion. They have won 2 of the 3 game played with Gould at the club, and lost by only 2 points to the Tigers in the middle of this 3 week period.
The Titans home ground advantage does little for the team this year, and the Panthers have already travelled to QLD this year against the Broncos. In this match the Panthers were up by 2 points at half time and it was during the Bronco’s “no points in the second half” phase, which is one of the reasons they couldn’t take it home. It will be a different story come Saturday as they are in good form and up against a team that it doing poorly. Panthers 13+.
Panthers are paying well at $2.14 through Centrebet and are my H2H value bet of the week as they are going to get up in this one. If you are as brave as me hit up the 13+ and this is paying a massive $5.15, also at Centrebet.
