Super Rugby 2017 is certainly not failing to deliver on the field with plenty of action including a number of incredible comebacks. In particular, the Crusaders have been exceptional at second half revivals, although that may not be necessary this week as they take on the Western Force.
Crusaders v Force, AMI Stadium, Friday March 24, 5:35pm AEDT
The Western Force have made the rather strange decision to leave one of their star players out of their two-match tour of New Zealand. Dane Haylett-Petty has been rested for the tour suggesting they are targeting wins in other more winnable environments than New Zealand. They currently stand at $7.50 with William Hill to beat the Crusaders. The Force have looked impressive at times this year but it is a huge ask to win Christchurch. The home side meanwhile we be sitting comfortably at $1.08. Although they did struggle to beat the Brumbies in their opening match of the year, whom the Force pushed all the way in Round Three before the bye.
Bet of the Match: Crusaders to Win by 13+ points at $1.43
Rebels v Waratahs, AAMI Park, Friday March 24, 7:45pm AEDT
Rebels supporters will be thankful of finally seeing an Australian side at AAMI Park. A horrendously difficult start to the year has seen them host both the Chiefs and Blues while facing the Hurricanes in Wellington. After going close against the Chiefs last week, they will believe that they can overturn the odds of $2.95 with William Hill to beat the Waratahs, who themselves are not exactly in fine form. They scraped past the Force before a dismal tour of South Africa and then were comprehensively defeated by the Brumbies in Round Four. They have a squad full of danger men but they can’t put together a performance worthy of the names on paper. William Hill prices them at $1.40 for the win.
Bet of the Match: Rebels to Win by 1-12 points at $4.15
In a repeat of last season’s Finals Qualifier, the Brumbies host the Highlanders on Saturday night. As Australian Conference Winners, the Brumbies slipped into the Finals and were not expected to do much against an in-form Highlanders side but they pushed them all way in 9-15 loss. 2017 sees these two sides meet in very different circumstances however, with the Highlanders struggling for form and the Brumbies looking for consistency. The young relatively inexperienced Brumbies side continues to defy expectations especially after their crushing of the Waratahs. They are priced at $2.05 in contrast to the Highlanders at $1.75. The away side sit bottom of the New Zealand Conference after a solitary win over the Blues but they will believe that they can beat the Brumbies who sit atop the Australian Conference.
