Hurricanes v Brumbies, McLean Park, Napier, Friday April 21, 5:35pm AEST
The Brumbies struggled to match the Rebels’ intensity last weekend and ultimately became the first side to lose to Melbourne this year. That demoralising loss could not have come at a worse time as they now travel to face the defending champions, the Hurricanes. A daunting task at any time even more so after losing to the worst team in your Conference. They will need to pick themselves up quickly in the short turnaround and trip to New Zealand if they are to have any chance of overturning a price of $7.00 with William Hill. The Hurricanes once again look dangerous this year as they enter this match after a hard fought 28-24 win over Conference rivals the Blues. Prior to that they easily dispatched the Waratahs on home soil and will be expecting to do the same this week against Australian competition again. They stand at $1.10 to claim victory and will be hoping star playmaker Beauden Barrett doesn’t get his fourth yellow card in three games.
Bet of the Match: Hurricanes to Win by 13+ points at $1.47
Waratahs v Kings, Allianz Stadium, Sydney, Friday April 21, 7:45pm AEST
Due to the bye in Round Eight, the Waratahs will be fully refreshed to welcome South African strugglers the Southern Kings. The home side are huge favourites for the win priced at $1.04. This should be a routine victory for the ‘Tahs but they have struggled at times this season and must be wary of the Kings. They showed last weekend against the Reds in the last 20 minutes what they are capable of. Lionel Cronje is one of the form kickers of the tournament and discipline will be of the upmost importance. It would be a massive shock if the Kings won here priced at $11.00 but in a season were the Sunwolves beat the Bulls anything could happen. They may just have to settle on claiming the losing bonus point that they just missed out on against the Reds.
Bet of the Match: Waratahs to Win by 1-12 points at $4.25
Force v Chiefs, NIB stadium, Perth, Saturday April 22, 9:45pm AEST
Rugby in Perth is fighting for its life at the moment. Yet the Western Force must put the off field issues aside and start to produce on the field. They could make an incredible statement this weekend when they host the Chiefs. A win here for the home side would send shockwaves through Australian rugby but it will be an extremely tough task as they are priced at $5.50 with William Hill. They will be hoping that a two-match tour of South Africa has taken a toll on the Chiefs. Despite the travel the New Zealand side are favourites with William Hill priced at $1.15. A scintillating comeback victory over the Cheetahs last week showed the class that the Chiefs have at their disposal. They will be greeted by an incredible atmosphere supporting the Force but the Chiefs are likely to just have too much for the home side.
