Australian Open Day 6 Womens Tennis Preview, Tips And Betting

Sat, Jan 22, 10:28am by Kevin Pitstock

Second half of the round 3 action from Melbourne Park today Aussie hope Sam Stosur and “Aussie Kim” both in action, as well as Australian Gambling’s favourite giant killer Alize Cornet.

As expected our $1.95 risk on Venus Williams proved the way to go. She couldn’t win and retired injured giving us the ultimate losing bet refund on the match. The beauty of the bet was she was way overs if she was able to play and win and we were priced in.

Day 6 Australian Open prices are quoted from this morning’s Iasbet womens tennis singles betting odds.

  • The last Australian hope Sam Stosur ($1.53) plays tonight against Petra Kvitova ($2.48)
    Hisense Arena

Australian Open Day 6 Matches To Bet On

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at $1.40 to beat Iveta Benesova
Pavlyuchenkova leads the head to head 2-0 and last time out won by a comprehensive 6-1, 6-0 score line indoors in Paris a year ago. She is a former Australian Open junior champion, in 2006 and 2007 and comes in to this winning both first round games in straight sets. Benesova comes in with good form beating 18th seed Maria Kirilenko in straight sets, but Pavlyuchenkova should prove too good.

Shahar Peer at $2.00 to beat Pennetta
Both players have been so devastating in their first two round matches that this could be the game of the day. Pennetta, despite her 22 seeding, leads the head to heads 3-2 against 10th seed Peer but importantly Peer has won both the last two matches played and both on hard courts in 2010. The last meeting was a straight sets drubbing and at $2.00 its like taking corn from a blind cocky.

Ekaterina Makarova at $2.25 to beat Nadia Petrova
The head to head history is even at 2-2 but importantly Makarova has won both the last two games played on hard court and grass and both in straight sets. Makarova’s second round match was very easy but importantly it was her who sent Ana Ivanovic packing in her round 1 match, as an indication of how well she is playing. Petrova is yet to be tested with easy wins against Pervak and then Molik who played well below her best. Petrova has looked good against weak opponents hence the short quote but Makarova has been playing the better tennis. Makarova in two.
